Frequently Asked Questions on our Tyre Auctions!

Monday, June 28th, 2010

Here at tyres for sale, we often get asked similar questions on our Auctions, so in the interests of all here are the top 5.

Can you do them for $xxx???

Well this is easy to answer, we sell our tyres at the best price we can, often half of retail! Please be aware of this and don’t waste your time asking for more discount.

Can you freight them to here, there or anywhere???

Yes… if you organize it and get the freight company to pick up from our premises in Manukau or East tamaki.. you can freight them wherever you like. ( goods must be paid for first of course. )

Can you provide a picture of the tyres???

Sometimes we can, however what people hopefully realize is that one tyre looks very much like another, our feedback shows we are supplying what we state so PLEASE BELIEVE US!!!!! It may sound to good to be true, but just check our feedback to be assured.

How old are these tyres???

We often get asked this question, as though we are selling some ten year old tyres that have nearly cracked and gone hard from old age ha ha ha…. all our tyres are off brand new vehicles so only a few months old.

Can I view the tyres???

This is another common question, now the only reason you would want to view them is if you do not believe that the auction is accurate, so again please check our feedback, realize we are the real deal, and get a great deal for yourself today!!!!!

Tyre Pressure

Friday, June 18th, 2010

tyre pressureOne of the most common questions that you get asked when you work in a tyre shop is “What pressure should I run my tyres at?”. Its a tricky one to answer as often what the car manufacturer recommends will give you a nice comfortable ride but not be the best for the tyres.

Personally I tend to run my tyres quite high. I have a Ford Falcon XR6 and run around 34 – 36 PSI in the tyres, that gives me two benefits – 1/ A nice firm ride 2/ Long lasting tyres.

It seems obvious when I mention it but is not always thought about – cooler tyres last longer. If you run your tyres too soft, they will heat up and hot rubber burns faster than cool rubber. If in doubt put a little extra in your tyres.

Here are my 3 commandments for tyre pressure.

  • Front wheel drives – put 2 more pounds in your front tyres over the rear, the front is much heavier on a front wheel drive car. 34 and 32 would be a good pressure for medium vehicles, 32 and 30 for smaller front wheel drives.
  • Big cars – Falcons, Maximas, Commodores and similar run at least 34 – 36 PSI in your tyres to achieve reasonable wear from them.
  • 4WD vehicles – 40 PSI is a good guideline, big heavy vehicles with expensive tyres!

Wheel Alignment and Balancing

Friday, March 12th, 2010

Often people don’t know exactly what to expect when getting a wheel alignment done, let alone how much it costs.

People also get confused between what a wheel alignment is and what wheel balancing is and when to get what.

Wheel Balancing
To put it in simple terms wheel balance is required when you get new tyres fitted, when your tyre has been removed from its rim ( ie getting a puncture fixed ) or if your car is shaking at high speeds.

Wheel Alignment
Again to keep it basic, wheel alignment is required if your tyres are wearing unevenly, if something has been replaced or knocked on your suspension, and advisable to do about once a year or so. Sometimes your car may also pull left or right which may be an indication that your alignment needs checking.

Often you can just have had a wheel alignment and your car may continue to pull to one side, this can be because of uneven tyre wear or suspension problems. So your alignment can be spot on, however unless everything else is perfect you can’t expect your car to drive like its on rails!

Buy Tyres Online at Tyres For Sale !!

Friday, February 19th, 2010

Buying tyres online with tyres for sale is simple. You just click through to our Tyre trademe listings and select the size that you want. We then email you our bank and contact details.

Once the tyres have been paid for we arrange with our supplier for you to collect them directly from Manukau city. Often our tyres are half the price of buying the comparable tyres elsewhere as we cut out the middleman and can supply to you at wholesale prices.

If you live elsewhere in New Zealand its relatively simple for you to arrange a courier to collect the tyres from our supplier and that way you don’t need to be in Auckland to take advantage of these specials.

We do not fit and balance tyres or provide any servicing as we are purely a virtual business. However this means our costs are very low and we can pass that saving directly to you.

If you have any questions don’t hesitate to ask by leaving a comment on our site.
