Wet Weather Driving – How NOT to Aquaplane
With the roads starting to get wet and greasy its important to start thinking about how safe your tyres and brakes are.
Aquaplaning is when a layer of water gets between the rubber of your tires and the road surface. The tread on your tyres helps to disperse this layer of water. If however you have little or no tread left then you are more prone to getting into trouble.
If aquaplaning occurs on all four of your tyres at the same time, your car stops being an automotive in control and becomes an uncontrollable sled!
Here are some tips how NOT to Aquaplane
- Ensure your tyres are inflated to the recommended pressure
- Make certain you have adequate tread depth on your tyres
- SLOW DOWN
- Keep clear from puddles
- Follow the tracks of the vehicle in front of you
